Mina
Reimer / USA
When creating fine
art commissions or illustrations for commercial clients, Mina (Melinda)
Reimer of San Francisco, tries to add a whimsical element or metaphor
to her work. Melinda used to live in Japan and created illustrations
in watercolor and ink for magazines, such Salida, Rurubu, AnAn,
and Mine. She later moved to San Francisco and learned to illustrate
with software such as, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and Corel Painter.
"The computer tools have enlarged my mark-making vocabulary", she
explains. Melinda still refines her artwork with tracing paper and
pencils, "I tried to keep my style very individual, and sometimes
the illustrations are too personal for the commercial market," she
says, "but, if they stand out as my interpretation, I feel I have
succeeded."
