Charles Barsotti / USA Charles Barsotti is a truly outstanding artist. Born in Texas, he is a 30-year veteran of The New Yorker, and a signature cartoonist whose rounded, elegant, sparsely detailed style evokes both the traditional world of a Thurber and the contemporary sensibility of a Roz Chast. He has worked for both Hallmark and The Saturday Evening Post where he was cartoon editor. Currently he is involved with an innovative project with WH Smith`s Office Supplies in the UK. His dog images are an integral part of their packaging, advertising and promotion appearing on every package and each cartoon. As well as trucks, billboards, and so on, he also currently has three drawings on Royal Mail first-class postage stamps. With his simple repertory including a nameless but lovable pooch and a monarch whose kingdom consists of a guard and a telephone, Barsotti manages to miraculously dissipate the clouds in people's minds with his unexpected humor.
