Jan Van Haasteran / Holland Jan van Haasteren was born on the 24th February 1936 in Schiedam, near Rotterdam. He started work by doing advertising-illustrations, but went to work for Toonder Studio's in 1962. One of the many figures he used to draw, was Disney's Hiawatha. He left Toonder Studio's after 5 years and became a freelance comic-strip illustrator. His most famous character is the Baron Fantast, which was published in various magazines. He also started making large complicated posters in his own particular style, which have become famous throughout Europe and other parts of the world, as have his many different puzzles. He now works a lot internationally and particulary enjoys the work he does for his Japanese clients. |
